What is Botox?
Botox is the administration of an agent named botulinum toxin, which is used to lighten or eliminate expression wrinkles that become prominent as a result of aging and environmental factors.
Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the transmission between nerves and the muscle in the application area. It softens the facial expressions we make consciously or unconsciously in our daily life and prevents the formation of wrinkles.
What Is Botox Used For?
The main purpose of Botox injections is to provide a younger and attractive looking facial appearance by eliminating or reducing existing or potential wrinkles without altering the facial expression. Although Botox is mostly utilised to eliminate wrinkles on the face, it is also used in the treatment of underarm sweating, teeth grinding and migraine, which causes severe headaches.
How Does Botox Work?
Botox treatment, which temporarily stops the signal transmission between the nerves and the muscles or sweat glands they innervate, is effective only in the application area and does not affect all the muscles. It temporarily removes wrinkles.
How Is the Botox Procedure Carried Out?
The principle of Botox application is the injection of botulinum toxin into the neuromuscular tissue after dilution. A local anesthetic cream is applied to the injection area approximately 20 minutes before the procedure.
Then the application area is cleaned and Botox is injected in small doses into the muscles in the area using fine needles. The process takes an average of 15 minutes. Botox injected into the muscle tissue begins to show its effect after an average of 24 to 72 hours. Rarely, this period may take up to 5 or 7 days.
Botox doses and sites differ in applications to men and women. It is important to preserve the masculine facial appearance, otherwise this may result in a feminine appearance of the face.
